🗺️ GPS walk tracker for your dog
Start a walk in PetZone and your phone's GPS draws the route on the map as a trail of paw prints. At the end you see the distance, the time and an estimate of the calories your dog burned.
What a GPS walk records
- The route on a map, drawn as paw prints in the direction you walked
- Distance, duration and active walking time
- Calories burned, estimated from your dog's weight, or from the typical size of the breed if the weight is missing
- A walk history for each pet, so every dog has its own walks
How to use it
- Open PetTrack in the PetZone app and choose the pet you are walking.
- Tap Start and keep PetZone open during the walk.
- Tap Stop when you are back. The walk is saved with its route and stats.
Free walks and Pro
You get 3 GPS walks free every month. After that you can upgrade to Pro or buy extra walks in the app.
Connect your own GPS tracker (Pro)
If your pet wears its own GPS device, PetZone can show its last position and battery level on the map. The device sends its position through Traccar, OwnTracks, Home Assistant or any device that can call a web address. Pro connects one device, Pro+ up to three.
- Safe zone alert (Pro and Pro+): set home on the map and choose a radius from 100 to 1000 m. You get a notification when the device reports a position outside the zone.
- Low battery alert and an alert when the device stops reporting (Pro+).
Good to know
- A GPS walk records the position of your phone, which you carry on the walk. It does not track your pet when you are apart.
- Keep the app open during the walk; recording in the background is not guaranteed.
- Branded collars such as Tractive or Fi cannot be connected directly, and Bluetooth tags such as AirTag or SmartTag do not work.
- Walks are stored on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Questions and answers
Can PetZone find my lost dog?
Not on its own. A GPS walk records your phone, not the dog. To see where your pet is, it needs to wear its own GPS device connected to PetZone. If your pet gets lost, a printed QR tag helps the finder call you.
Is the GPS walk tracker free?
Yes, 3 GPS walks a month are free. More walks need Pro or extra walks bought in the app.
How are calories calculated?
From the distance, the active walking time and your dog's weight, using a standard formula for dogs. Without a weight, PetZone uses the typical size of the breed or species. It is an estimate, not a measurement.
Which GPS trackers work?
Devices that can send their position through Traccar, OwnTracks, Home Assistant or a simple web request. Tractive, Fi, AirTag and similar closed systems cannot be connected directly.
