🔳 QR code tag for your dog or cat, printed at home
PetZone turns your contact details into a QR code. If your pet gets lost, whoever finds it scans the code with a phone camera and can call you straight away, with no app or internet needed.
How it works
- In the PetZone app, open your pet's profile and tap QR code.
- Enter your name and mobile number and save. The QR code is created on your phone.
- Download the PDF and print it. Plain paper is enough.
- Cut out the QR code and attach it to the collar, tag or carrier. Protect it with clear tape.
What happens when someone finds your pet
The finder points a phone camera at the code. The phone shows a contact card with your pet's name and your number, with one tap to call or save it. The finder does not need the PetZone app or an internet connection, because your contact is stored in the code itself. Most phone cameras read contact QR codes; some older phones need a QR scanner app.
What the code contains
- Your pet's name
- Your name and mobile number
- Breed, age and microchip number, if they are in the pet profile
- With Pro: a second emergency number and a note, for example about allergies or medication
Free and Pro
The QR code and the printable PDF with your name and number are free. Pro adds a second phone number, a note, a green design with the app logo and pet details in the PDF.
Good to know
- It is an ID tag, not a tracker. The code has no GPS and does not show where your pet is.
- You are not notified when someone scans it. The finder calls you.
- Your contact is stored inside the code. If you change your number, print a new code.
- Paper wears out. Cover it with clear tape and replace it when it fades.
Privacy
The code is generated on your phone; your contact is not uploaded to a server to create it. Anyone who scans the code sees what you put in it, so add only what you are happy for a finder to see.
Questions and answers
Do I need to buy a special tag?
No. You print the code yourself on ordinary paper and attach it to the collar or to a tag you already have.
Does the person who finds my pet need an app?
No. A normal phone camera reads the code and shows your number. No internet connection is needed either.
Can the QR code show where my pet is?
No. It only carries contact details. For walks, PetZone has a separate GPS walk tracker.
Is it free?
Yes. The basic QR code and the printable PDF are free in the PetZone app for Android.
